| The Law Versus Grace In the gospel of {John 1:17} says- for the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Romans 7:7 { What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet.} The Law was given to us so we would know what sin was, but the Law was powerless to stop the sin that reigns in our mortal bodies. What is sin, it is missing the mark, a failure to meet the divine standard. {Romans 3:23}. Sin originated with Satan {Isaiah 14:12-14}; and interred into the world through Adam {Romans 5:12}. Sin was and is universal. Only Christ is the exception. {Romans 3:23} {1 Peter 2:22}. Justification by faith in Christ, what defines justification? The righteousness of God is all that God demands and approves, and is ultimately found in Christ himself. Who fully met every requirement of the Law for us through imputation! Christ has been made our righteousness. Redemption means to deliver us, by Jesus paying the price that we should have paid, since we were under slavery, and were subject to redemption by the price of the blood of our redeemer the Lord Jesus Christ. This is where God the Father sits on his throne ready to judge you, he will ask you, did you break any of the Ten Commandments which is the perfect law of God, and if you did, you are condemned too hell, but God sent his son who did not break any of the Commandments to pay with his life by dieing on the cross for you and for me, so he can open the book of life, if your name is not in that book you are going to be judged by the Ten Commandments. Revelation 20:15 . So if you trusted Jesus and his righteousness to pay for your sins, then you can claim Hebrews 4:3 which says -Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, So I declared on oath in my anger, they shall never enter my rest. Now About Grace. Grace means obtaining something you did not deserve, God’s unmerited favor. Ephesians 2:8-9 says- For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast. I love the song amazing grace because it is so true. God is so patient with us and slow to anger, abounding in love. {Exodus 34:6}. When God gave man the breath of life in Genesis 2:7 Man became a living being With a free will to obey God or not. He gave us a free will because he wants us to love him out of our own free will. Unfortunately this present world doesn’t love God. They chose sin instead. It hurts God and brakes his heart for us not to obey him. In Genesis 6:6 says The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. God is a loving God and all he wants from us is our love and our obedience. Why does he give us such grace, it is because of his great love for us. When your child does wrong do you immediately want to kill you child or do you have compassion on them. If you are a loving person you will have compassion on them. It is the same with God. The scripture is true that says he will never leave you nor forsake you.{ Hebrews 13:5} but to our misfortune we sometimes leave and forsake him, this is sad because he will not force you to stay with him. We should make sure that our names are written in the lamb’s book of life. If our name is not written in the Lamb’s book of life we will be thrown into the lake of fire. {Revelation 20:15} - {1 Peter 5:8 }says- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. That is why we must stay close to Jesus. The devil will never be able to stand up against the power of the risen Christ. In Romans 6:22 says- But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. So let me ask you, are you truly set free from sin as the scripture just said, or are you still under the influence of the devil. If you are still not yet set free from sin, there is hope, all you have to do to get set free is surrender your mind, body, and soul to Jesus, tell him you know that you can’t do it by yourself and you know only he is able to help you conquer sin. This will take lots of prayer. Romans 8:37 says- Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. May the grace of God be with you all. Lee Martone |
